Common questions

Is Travelers free?

Yes. Everything in the game can be earned by playing. If you'd like a few more coins, there are coin packs to buy in the apps: a pouch, a bag and a chest, each always with the same number of coins. Nothing is random, and nothing can be bought only with money.

Who is it for?

Travelers is for players aged 13 and over. The first time it starts, the game asks for your month and year of birth; it keeps only whether you can play, never the date.

Where is my journey saved? Can I move it to a new phone?

Your journey saves on your device as you play. To keep it safe online and carry it to another phone or tablet, open Settings → Your journey online, type your email and tap Email me a code; type the six-number code and you're signed in. No password. On the other device, sign in with the same email and your journey comes with you. If both devices have moved on, the game asks which journey to keep.

I bought a coin pack and the coins didn't arrive

Close the game fully and open it again: the store finishes the purchase and the coins are added the moment it does. A purchase is never counted twice. If they still haven't arrived after a few minutes, email us the receipt from the App Store or Google Play and we'll sort it out.

Can I get a refund for a coin pack?

Coin packs are sold by Apple and Google, so refunds go through them: on an iPhone or iPad, at reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android, through Google Play's refund request. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law aren't affected. If you're stuck, email us.

How do I play with friends?

Open Settings → Play together, type a name, and either Make a new group (you get a code like pelican-jetty-482 to share) or type the code a friend gave you, then Go online. Everyone with the same code who's in the same town shares that town; nobody else can see you. Meet up, chat, shout each other a drink, work a shift together, or race.

Someone in my group is being unpleasant

Tap the people button (next to the gear) to see who's in town. Next to any name you can Mute, Report or Block. Block means you no longer see them, their chat or anything they send, wherever you meet, and they aren't told; Unblock is in the same list. Report saves the recent chat so we can look at it; we review reports within a day. Chat is filtered, links are removed, and only people with your group's code can ever see you. Please keep personal details out of the chat.

How do I delete my account and data?

In the game: Settings → Your journey online → Delete my account (tap twice). Or on the web, at the account deletion page, with the same email code. Deleting removes the account and the online copy of your journey, everywhere; the copy on your device is yours to keep or clear with Start the journey again. The privacy policy lists what the game keeps and for how long.

Which phones and tablets does it run on?

Android 7 and up, and iPhone and iPad on iOS 15 and up. The test version also plays in a current browser on a phone, tablet or laptop. On an older phone, Settings → Graphics → Smooth turns off the fancier effects and keeps things quick.

The game is slow, or something looks wrong

Try Settings → Graphics → Smooth first. If something still looks wrong (odd shapes, black squares, a stuck screen), email us the make and model of your phone and, if you can, a screenshot: it's the quickest way for us to find it.

I run a café or a local business. Can we be in the game?

We'd love to hear from you. Travelers has made-up shops and cafés in every town, and a small number of real local businesses can take a place in it, with their own menu or their own billboard, with your written agreement and on fair terms. Email us and tell us about your place.

The privacy policy and the terms of use say exactly what the game keeps and the rules of the road. Both are written in plain words.
